Christian Education
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

2012 New Winter Class – Discipleship IBeginning January 22nd, at 9:30AM (for 10 weeks)
All other discipleship sessions will resume as well!
As your brother in Christ, and Pastor, I wanted to take a moment to stop and welcome you to your Discipleship Training Course. Allow me to explain to you why you're here.
At some point in the past, more than likely, you responded to an invitation to receive Christ as your Savior. Whether you know it or not, that was the single most important, and valuable decision that you've ever made in your entire life! If you're anything like the rest of us you probably have some questions about this new decision; questions like: 'What does being a Christian really mean?', 'How do Christians act?', 'What do Christians really believe?' The goal of this class is to answer these questions and many more.
This Discipleship Training Course is born from a deep desire of your brothers and sisters in Christ to see you mature and UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN as opposed to just attending church. There are too many "church-folk" who claim to know Christ, but cannot speak at length about any meaningful subject of the Christian faith.
So please, as you move through this course, PAY ATTENTION! If there is something you don't understand, ASK! Your instructors along with your Church family consider this course to be one of the most important steps in your developing a meaningful, fruitful, and active relationship with your Lord, Jesus Christ, as well as to fulfill the vision of this Church.
I want to insure you that you're in a safe environment. Everyone in this room with you is where you are. We have purposely designed the attendance of this course so that you will feel comfortable and safe! So, don't feel the need to try to speak technically about anything. Don't feel the need to use certain Christian jargon that you're not familiar with. You can be yourself, be open, and be honest, about where you are and what you need.
In closing I want you to know that our door is always open. When I say "our" I am referring to myself, Pastor Moreland, my fellow Elders, our Ministers, Deacons, Ministry Leaders, and Church family as a whole. We want you here! We need you here! You're the next generation of the Kingdom and we take that very seriously. So, if you have any questions please feel free to call, we're always available for you.
In His Love,
John A. Moreland Sr. Servant
On behalf of all members of LCCC
Course Description: Discipleship I: Students begin to learn the basic fundamental truths about the bible says about Christians and some essential truths about our salvation by faith through grace. The bible teaching covers the simple facts about personal salvation, the bible itself, the living Word, the Lord, our Divine relationship with Him, the role of the Church and our call to serve in the local church. Upon completion Disciples should be able to convey what the bible is and what it says about salvation; how they are saved, by what rights do they claim salvation and what it means to be saved forever.
Course Description: Discipleship II: Students build off the truths from (DI). Now that the disciples have level-set on basic fundamental truths DII picks up the journey and travels deeper into biblical history to further explain our relationship to Christ. We will review the bible and man's relationship to God by way of three (3) dispensations or time periods in the Bible. These periods are called the Patriarchal, Mosaic and Christian (Grace) Dispensations. Disciples now can begin to tie together the Old and New Testaments. Upon completion disciples will better understand how to bridge what God was doing in the Old Testament to where the New Testament Church carries on.
Course Description: Discipleship III: Students build off the truths from (DII and DI). The disciples now know what the bible says about salvation, how the old and new testaments support our beliefs on salvation and they are prepared to journey to the next phase of what happens "now." With a clearer understanding of God and His written word, disciples can build to the pinnacle, what happens next? When will Jesus return and when do I do until He comes back fro His church.
How long is the course? Each section is about 10 weeks long; there are times when an instructor and students agree to extend their time by 1 week or so, this is rare, but possible.
Can I miss any dates and still graduate? After 3 absences you are asked to pick the course up in the next round. Attendance is important and is taken seriously.
I hear there is homework and an exam following each section? Yes and Yes. Discipleship is a serious commitment of time to study God's word for you life. It should not be taken lightly. Instructors will only pass on disciples who have shown attention to the studies, who have participated in class and shown they are willing to study outside of classroom time. "The soul is a terrible thing to waste."
Do I have to be a member to take the course? No, but there is an extra application for non-members.
Is there a cost to take the course? Yes, in time not money. You must study outside of class and it must past exams to graduate from each section.
Where do I start? The sections are taken in order, when you have shown aptitude for the information in DI, you can move on to DII and then DIII in order and with the same disciples you started with; this builds strength as you go.
When can I start? Watch the website calendar and bulletin for a new class every 10 weeks or so, there is a summer break in July and August.
Who will be in my class? The same group of people who registered for DI when you did will become your disciple-mates. They move to DII and DII with you and your instructor. This gives you a familiar group to learn with. It also builds your confidence for public conversation about Jesus in a safe community of learning believers.
I highly recommend the Discipleship series classes 1-3! It was a joy.
I received so much needed Biblical understanding. I believe that in order to truly appreciated the good news of our Savior Jesus Christ, and His love for the people, you must first understand the good news of Gods' grace. Then you are equipped to share God's love with others!! And isn't that our mission in this journey?

One of the things I really enjoyed about this class was how personable it was. I looked forward to it every Sunday. We talked about our salvation, we learned who we were as Christians individually, we had homework, we studied to prepare us for our next class discussion. It was enlightening and fulfilling. Although it was a group setting, I felt it tailored to us individually. Our instructor knew her audience and she was able to meet each one of us at our own level. And to me, that was huge.
This class has made a difference in me spiritually. I recommend the class to others who want to mature and grow in God.
Thank you, Angela

I enjoyed taking the Discipleship training. I learned a lot that I didn't know. And I learned some things I had learned weren't biblical. But now I know what God expects of me. I will take the knowledge and skills that I have learned in Discipleship class and "go out in the world and teach, baptize them in the name of the Father, and Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Matt 28:19-20)." I'm truly blessed and enriched after taking the class.
