Taste of God's Love
“Taste of God's Love" is an outreach of local Christian volunteers from various churches who provide hot meals to the homeless and hungry of Denver. Each month volunteers work to provide food and supplies to homeless and low income individuals.
Outreach Project
Who are our guests? This outreach is open for anyone to attend, even if someone appears to have the means to supply their own food. It is advertised by word of mouth & is listed in “The Voice” which is a newspaper written for & by the homeless community. Those who attend may live on the streets, in their cars, or in a shelter. Some have their own home or apartment, but live on limited resources (limited wages, temporary layoff, pensions, or disability pay) & funds get tight at the end of the month. Some are educated; some are not. Some have substance addictions, & some have physical or mental limitations. Some are loners; others have families. Most of our attendees are men, although there are always some women. In spring & summer we see an influx including migrant workers & transients who follow the warm climates.
Mission Statement
Christ says that we “are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp & put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, & it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds & praise your Father in heaven” (Matt. 5:14-16). The “Taste of God’s Love” ministry strives to be a light. We pray that the kindness we share helps people who often have given up hope, to see the source of our love.
John speaks of God’s love, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, & we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions & sees his brother in need, but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions & in truth” (1 John 3:16-18).

How Can I Help?
Volunteers are needed to help with one or more of the areas listed below
- Cooking and preparing food: Even if you are unable come down and serve, we welcome your food donation. Each feeding has a menu with specific items which are donated by generous volunteers. If you are interest in becoming a part of our food donation volunteers, please contact Beth Swenson at bswenson14@comcast.net , and ask to be added to our email list. We are always able to take food down to the feeding site on the behalf of individuals who would like to donate but are unable to attend.
