Biography of Rev. John A. Moreland

Pastor John Moreland was born August 30, 1978 to Mr. and Mrs. John William Moreland. As a young man reared in the deep culture and rich tradition of South Texas, serving God was all but optional. At the tender age of five years old, Pastor Moreland felt a strong call from God to preach His word and at age 15 he publicly surrendered to that call. At age 18 Pastor Moreland was ordained for Pastoral Ministry.
Shortly after graduating from high school in San Antonio, Pastor Moreland enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Security Police Officer, serving from 1996-2000, as well as 2001-2002 to support the efforts against the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our country. His duty stations while on active duty included: Albuquerque, NM, and Ali Al Salem, Kuwait. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Pastor Moreland served as a Police Officer for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department in Albuquerque, NM from 2000-2003. Pastor Moreland has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wayland Baptist University and is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity Degree at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.
In 2003 Pastor Moreland was happily wed to the former Kenna L. Head. He routinely describes their wedding day as the “happiest day of my life.” Kenna has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from North Carolina A&T University, Raleigh, NC, and before leaving the workforce to devote full attention to their children, she served faithfully as a high school teacher in Albuquerque, NM. Pastor Moreland and Kenna enjoy rearing four children: Qena, Jordan, Ashley, and Kendell, and are avid travelers.
In December 2006 Pastor Moreland relocated to Denver, CO. Shortly after arriving in Denver he was led by God to Living Hope Baptist Church where he served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Robin Holland before being called as the Sr. Pastor of Lowry Community Christian Church.
Pastor Moreland has a vision to see men and women become equipped with the tools and knowledge to walk in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His personal ministry passions include: leadership development, youth and young adults, men and marriage.
