February is African-American History Month
Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson initiated Negro History Week (later Black History Month) in February 1926, which corresponded with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. The event earned him the nickname "The Father of Black History." In 1976, this celebration was expanded to include the entire month of February, and today Black History Month garners support throughout the country as people of all ethnic and social backgrounds discuss the black experience.

This year's theme "Black Women in American Culture and History" honors African American women and the myriad of roles they played in the shaping of our nation. The theme, chosen by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, urges all Americans to study and reflect on the value of their contribution to the nation.

We Are One!
It's time for LCCC's Multi-Cultural Event and our Youth Contest. Youth, Who Are You in Christ? Well it's your time to let everyone know. The contest this year is a creative poster board that highlights “Who YOU Are in Christ.”

Don't rush out and buy a poster, we'll supply it for you. And just like last year, no names on the board at all. Be as creative as you'd like, use magazines, newspaper, draw, paint or whatever else you'd like, there are no limits to expressing who YOU Are in Christ.

If you have any questions or need further information, please see Sister Kimberly Eubanks.

Denver Rescue Mission
Tuesday, February 28th, at 5:30PM
We are adding an extra date to our Denver Rescue Mission outreach. Instead of meeting on every other fourth Tuesday of the month, we will now be visiting the Denver Rescue Mission on every fourth Tuesday. We are looking for new members who are not currently involved in the DRM outreach. We want to expand the number of people who experience sharing the Gospel. Since we already have a strong representation, current Denver Rescue Mission outreach members are welcome, but not expected to attend the new dates, and new members are not expected to attend every fourth Tuesday. Please contact Elder André Lanier or Deacon Benjamin Peeples if you have any questions.
